Garden Art - Red Heart

Garden Art – Red Heart, 12″ x 12″

Saturday, February 4th 2017,
10:00am – 1:00pm
Sunday, February 5th 2017,
10:00 – 1:00pm

(2 day workshop)

Fun and educational: fused glass workshops

The finished project is a large, sturdy glass heart for the garden. To display your art I will organize a handmade stand (by John Czegledi) that will safely ground your work.  The design shown is an example. You can create your own, using a multitude of available colours. Sheet glass, frit, stringers, all tools, two firings, the handmade metal stand, a small snack and soft drinks will be provided in this class. The project will be fired after the weekend workshop and ready for pick up around 3 weeks after the class. The thickness of the glass will be more than usual – thus makes it fairly heavy.

The first day of this class will be used to create one of a kind sheet glass with your own pattern and palette of colours. Day two will incorporate this glass and a multitude of other options. This class is suitable for beginners, returning glass fusers or stained glass artists.

From start to finish I will guide every student through the process.

$175/per student. (pre-registration please)

….

Class limit is 6 students.
The date of the class might be postponed if less than 4 students register.

Please use the contact form on this website to inquire about availability. I will get back to you within 2 or 3 days. Closer to the date of the class I will mail out an invoice, it can be paid online if you wish.

“Join the fun – Beginner Glass Fusing Classes”

January 17th 2017,
10:00pm – 1:30pm

Fun and educational.

We will create a fused glass plate by using a puzzle/mosaic technique.

The finished project will be a sushi bowl (8″ x 8″).

First step is to learn how to cut glass. Next – just enjoy to play with colour and shape.

Class limit is 6 students.

Material, use of tools and two glass fusings are included. $95/per student. (pre-registration please)

The project will be fired twice after the class. First at a high temperature called “full fuse” and in a second fusing at a lower temperature it will be slumped over a mold. This will give the glass piece the final shape. The finished artwork will be ready for pick up around 10 – 14 days after the class.

Introduction to dichroic glass and millefiori.

(December 15th 2016, 10:00am – 2:30pm
and December 22nd 2016, 10:00 – 11:30)

In this class we will create one small plate using several layers of glass. There will be a nice variety of colours to choose from to design a unique plate.

On the first day of this class – after placing our plates in the kiln – we will create 10 small pieces using millefiori and dichroic glass in a combination of iridescent and regular fusing glass. We will explore different styles to use the material to archive a variety of effects.

On the second day of this class, after all firings are done, the glass plate and small pieces will be ready for pick up. We will get together and each student chooses their favourite 5 pieces. These will be turned into jewellery. The other 5 will be turned into fridge magnets. On this second day we will add a bail to the jewellery pieces and magnets to the other ones.
